Public Health, BS/MPH Requirements

Bachelor of Science

The public health bachelor's degree requires 123 credits to complete, which are distributed across three categories of courses:

  • Public health core (30 credits)
  • Concentration (15 credits)
  • Liberal arts core (62 credits)

Master of Public Health

The public health master's degree requires 42 credits, which include a global health concentration.

Fifteen credits are shared across both the undergraduate and graduate degrees in this accelerated program.

BS Concentration Options

Students choose one from three concentrations offered. Each concentration provides 15 credits of coursework.

Students who complete either the addiction prevention or community health education concentration are eligible for initial professional credentialing in corresponding careers.

MPH Experiential Learning

MPH students build practical skills through structured, hands-on experiences designed to reinforce classroom learning and prepare them for professional practice.

Applied Practice Experience Pre-Planning


Prior to registering for PHP 667 Graduate Practicum in Public Health, MPH students must complete the planning steps (agency identification, competency mapping and products) required for this course.

Interprofessional Education


Students enrolled in the MPH degree program participate in an Interprofessional Practice (IPP) event. Students must successfully complete all required assessments and interactive experiences associated with this event.
