Professor of Public Health Dessa Bergen-Cico, coordinator of the addiction studies program in Falk College, is the co-principal investigator of a research project that’s exploring how the combination of AI and mindfulness-based practices can help people in treatment for opioid use disorder.

The Autonomous Systems Policy Institute has partnered with the Institute for Democracy, Journalism and Citizenship for the two-day event. 

With a robust orientation behind them, eleven Hubert H. Humphrey Fellows from 10 emerging democracies and developing countries have embarked on a 10-month program involving graduate study, professional development and cultural exchange.

They have taken advantage of opportunities to learn and help others, including work with the local organization Layla’s Got You.

Provided by the Association for Budgeting and Financial Management, the award honors his contributions to public administration, budgeting, financial management and fiscal policy analysis.

The Maxwell School faculty member will use the fellowship to engage the public on perceptions and governance of artificial intelligence.

Dean David M. Van Slyke told the crowd that the year ahead will include celebrations and other engagement opportunities united by a theme borrowed from the Athenian Oath—‘Ever Strive.’

Grace Brashears is a double major at Falk (HDFS and public health) who was recently named the youngest executive director in the 10-year history of OttoTHON, Syracuse University’s 12-hour dance marathon that raises money for Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital.
