Each year ASPI will support two faculty fellows from across the campus with seed funds to pursue grant opportunities in AI-related projects in their domain of expertise and interest. The $5,000 seed fund can be used for pilot studies, graduate student support, travel and other activities leading up to a joint grant application with ASPI. Applicants should specify at least one external funding opportunity (government, foundations, philanthropy, etc.), that they intend to pursue during or after the fellowship period.

Throughout the fellowship period, the faculty fellow will be expected to:

• organize and lead regular (monthly) discussions and workshops on the topic of their research;
• invite and host a conversation with an invited scholar on the topic of their interest (costs will be covered by ASPI);
• attend ASPI events and activities and;
• become a member of the review committee to evaluate fellowship applications for the following year.

Interested faculty can email their CV and a one-page description of their proposal to lncabeza@syr.edu by May 15 or Nov. 15 each year.

The selected fellow in each round will be announced by the end of May/Nov.
