Maxwell student Abigail Fitzpatrick, received the Wortman Scholarship from the History Department. Funding for the scholarship has been generously provided by Marlene Stein Wortman ’58 B.A. (Hist). Fitzpatrick will use the funding to conduct archival research in Los Angeles for her distinction thesis.

The Public Health Department recently honored several undergraduate and graduate students with department awards. “We seek to be a leader in leveraging public health research and education to create the greatest impact on global health,” says Department Chair and Professor David Larsen. 

CHRONOS is celebrating its revival, a milestone anniversary and special recognition from the Syracuse Office of Undergraduate Research and Creative Engagement.

The scholarships, now in their 36th year, were founded as a tribute to—and means of remembering—the students studying in London and Florence through Syracuse University who were killed in the Dec. 21, 1988, bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland.

Robert Shetterly visited the Maxwell School recently to talk about his portrait series, a sampling of which is on display in the foyer. 

A team of students from across the University won $8,000 at the Social Impact Pitch Competition for their Solace Collective clothing pitch. 

Graduate student Connor McNeil took part in the three-week exercise as a member of the Vermont Army National Guard. 

The exhibit is drawn from a collection of images and audio files contributed to the Pandemic Journaling Project (PJP), which was started in May 2020 by a team of researchers from the University of Connecticut and Brown University.

Lisa Olson-Gugerty, teaching professor of public health and Mary Kiernan, teaching professor of nutrition and food studies, introduced honeybees to the South Campus landscape in spring 2020 and the hives are now being managed by students in the Syracuse University Beekeeping Club, with Olson-Gugerty as their faculty advisor.
