Meredith Professor Perreault, teaching awardee D'Amico honored
Tom Perreault, professor of geography, was named Laura J. and L. Douglas Meredith Professor for Teaching Excellence. In addition, Francine D'Amico, teaching professor of international relations, received a Meredith Teaching Recognition Award. These awards recognize and reward outstanding teaching at the University.

The Truman award has become the premier graduate scholarship for aspiring public service leaders in the United States. The scholarship seeks to fund students who possess the leadership skills, intellect and passion that will make them “change agents” for the public good in any field.

Foundations is a workshop series that introduces Syracuse University students to essential life-skills. “I am so grateful to all the departments and staff who came together to create this unique program for our students. The student feedback has been overwhelmingly positive and we are excited to continue the growth of Foundations,” says Trumbo, one of the co-organizers of the series.
Maxwell students named as finalists for prestigious Truman Scholarship
Dina Eldawy, an international relations and citizenship and civic engagement major, and Crystal Letona, a policy studies major, are finalists for the Truman Scholarship, which recognizes students for their community service, academic accomplishment, and commitment to a career of public service. “Dina and Crystal are extraordinary students and activists who are passionate about public service,” says Jolynn Parker, director of Center for Fellowship and Scholarship Advising.

Francine D’Amico named teaching professor at the Maxwell School
The dean of the Maxwell School has appointed Francine D’Amico to the position of teaching professor in the International Relations Program. The promotion recognizes D’Amico’s accomplishments in teaching, advising, service, and curricular and co-curricular development since joining the Maxwell School in 2000.

Cameron MacPherson '16 BA (IR) named as SU's first Mitchell Scholar
A graduate student in Pan African studies has been named a recipient of the George J. Mitchell Scholarship for graduate study in Ireland. He is one of 12 U.S. students selected from more than 300 applications for the award. With the award, he will study intercultural theology at Trinity College, Dublin.
Maxwell student reflects on Critical Language Scholarship experience
Giovanna Saccoccio is a senior majoring in international relations and in public relations. Last spring, she earned a prestigious Critical Language Scholarship that allowed her to study Turkish intensively through an immersive experience abroad in Azerbaijan this past summer.
