Maxwell announces promotions, tenure for eight faculty

The Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University is pleased to announce the promotion of the following distinguished individuals to professor in their field.

Gift funds professorship and research in energy, environmental policy

Peter Wilcoxen, professor of public administration and international affairs, will serve as the inaugural Ajello Professor in Energy and Environmental Policy. The professorship was created from a $250,000 gift from Maxwell School alumnus James Ajello ’76 M.P.A.

Maxwell names Montgomery Gruber Professor, O'Hanley Faculty Scholars

Andrew Wender Cohen, professor of history, has been announced as the recipient of the Montgomery Gruber Professorship. Additionally, the O’Hanley Faculty Endowed Fund for Faculty Excellence, which serves to help recognize, reward and retain excellent teachers at the school, announced three new scholars: Azra Hromadžić, associate professor of anthropology; Natalie Koch, associate professor of geography; and Rebecca Schewe, assistant professor of sociology.

In recognition of her contributions to the field of aging studies, Jennifer Karas Montez, assistant professor of sociology, has been named the Gerald B. Cramer Faculty Scholar in Aging Studies for the academic years 2016-17 through 2018-19.
